Welcome to Decent Banter. I am Andrew and today we will discus conglomerate, independent and cross media companies.

First we will speak about conglomerates. Conglomerates are big companies like "News Corp" a company that you probably never heard of but that the company that created "21st Century Fox" after the split in 2013. "21 Century Fox" is also a conglomerate that owns many companies that are called subsidiaries. an example of their subsidiary is Fox Entertainment Group, 20th Century Fox film studio and Fox television network.

Now we will speak about the smaller independent companies like "Warp". These companies are completely independent and only rely on themselves. These companies are mostly local and are only known by people in the area. some independent companies are successful enough to become worldwide. "Warp" also commonly known as "Warp Records" were successful enough to be known all over Britain and Australia. "Warp" is still a growing company and they have a lot of potential of becoming very popular worldwide because of their socially realistic style.

The company that I investigated was "Warp Films" an independent cross media company based in Sheffield, London and Melbourne Australia. this company used to be "Warp Records" Warp Films was established by Warp Records founding partners Rob Mitchell and Steve Beckett. It was initially created with financial support from NESTA and had a permit to produce a number of short films. After some of their films had a lot of success with the local media warp became popular all over Britain. and are still making films to this day. You can tell a "Warp" film from most films because of their use of social realism this is not something that is used commonly throughout the media. This makes the films more relatable and believable an example of this is "This Is England" a very popular film in Britain mainly because it is so relatable to the older audience. "Warp" being a small company has a lot of competition. "Warp" was chosen by "UK Film Council" to be part of "Warp X" that was also joined by "film 4", "EM Media" and "Screen Yorkshire". This collaboration was very successful and brought a lot of attention to all the companies involved. After Warp X the companies in Warp X all supported and advertised each other but before Warp X Warp Record and Warp Films advertised each other throughout the media. The main product of Warp Films is movies and TV programs but they also do a lot of audio products through Warp Records.
