Welcome back to DB episode 4. I am Andrey and I
will be your host for today. Todays show is about distribution and advertising
of the film Tyrannosaur.
Films can be advertised through many types of
media. The first way of advertising a film is through showing trailers at the
cinema as it can be advertised with films that have the same theme this will
attract the audience of that theme to the movie. This is a also a way to appeal
to other producers who are searching for inspiration through other films.
The second way of advertising is through
television, radio and the internet. Advertising through Televisions is good
because the trailer will be shown to a certain audience as it will only be
shown on certain channels like tyrannosaur was advertised on film 4.
Advertising through media is very effective as many people use the media in day
to day circumstances and will see these adverts. Films are often advertised
through social media by showing trailers and posters. This is very popular as
the younger generation are constantly using the social media this is also the
way social medias make most of their money by advertising products on their
clients pages and so on. This way it will be shown to a big audience and may
become popular in different groups of people.
The third way of advertising is through posters
and billboards. The poster for Tyrannosaur was fairly popular when it first
appeared in the internet before the films release on the 7th of October 2011. These
appealed to a wide audience as random people noticed the advert and were
intrigued by the mystery of the poster. The poster has what looks like n armed
man standing between two trees and you can see the skeleton of a tyrannosaur
under his feet. The mystery and the intrigue spread the popularity of the film.
The forth way of advertising a film is through
promotional events this will mainly appeal to people who already know about the
film but they will still tell their friend groups about this film therefore
advertising the film. Tyrannosaur was advertised on 38+ award ceremonies out of
which it won 18 including a BAFTA and a Silver Lion Award.
Another way of advertising the film is through
reviews this will not only advertise the film but it will also show the
audience whether its worth watching the film or not and how good it is.
Tyrannosaur was rated 7.6 by IMDb and 7.3 by Rotten Tomatoes.
Now its very popular to watch films at home.
Streaming then From Netflix and LoveFilm. Tyrannosaur was recently released on
these networks Love Film rating it 7.6 the overall reviews of the film are
mixed as some say that its a dark masterpiece and others say that its a
horrible film that is way to violent and horrific. The film was also released
on DVD on the 6th Feb.
2012 and is still available
to buy from multiple internet sites and shops. The film can also be illegally downloaded from multiple sites. Tyrannosaur can sometimes be viewed on Film4.
